A little review from our moderator, Mystery, who experienced Muse’s first British Stadium Gig of The Resistance Tour.
Ok, so now I’ve got home and chilled out and eaten a tad, I’ll post a full review of the gig last night, now
So, firstly, just make mention of the support acts. Pulled Apart By Horses were the first on stage. They were okay, bearable, but nothing like the music I choose to listen to. Decent musicians, didn’t hate them. Band Of Skulls were second, and they were pretty good! Nothing fantastic, but catchy tunes, decent musicians, I might check them out a bit more, few of their songs I really liked. Then the major disappointment; The Editors. I’d heard them from T In The Park earlier this year and based on that, was really looking forward to them, actually. Then they came on… Oh, fuck, I felt MISERABLE listening to them. Honestly, they were so dull, it killed the atmosphere largely around me, people were just fed up. A couple songs were bit more upbeat that I got into but largely, incredibly disappointed in them. Was looking forward to them most out of all three gigs’ support bands. Shame.
And for Muse! Firstly, they were ON TIME. On stage on time! Has that ever happened with Muse before?! And secondly; That intro… Me and my friend just looked at each other and laughed. It was ridiculous, with the protesters. Too much, really. Obviously didn’t affect the show but we just found it laughable. But at least it was something visual. When Uprising started, honestly, I welled up a little. I felt like I could’ve cried because I was so happy to just be in attendance of the gig. Before even knowing the songs that were to come, I was so fucking happy. Excellent opening to the gig, Uprising wasn’t as bad an opener as it was last year, though I still don’t think it’s great in that slot.
The usuals followed of course, until I suddenly spotted Matt with the Mirror Manson. At this point, I got excited. Like, REALLY excited. I knew something different was coming.. The pre-B&H riff à la Glastonbury 2004 started and I got tingles down my spine. I knew what was coming and I was dead chuffed. Couldn’t believe it. Could’ve seen Citizen Erased or Bliss coming, or even MK ULTRA, but B&H? Never ever expected that last night. Absolutely fantastic. As soon as that was played I knew the set could have no complaints. But, it didn’t stop there, did it? Couple of tracks later, I spot Matt with another specific guitar – the 7-string. Eyes widened, turned excitedly to my friend and was literally like, oh my God, Citizen Erased as well?!? They were the only two rarities of course, but they made the night. I was expecting “the usual” and we got two fantastic songs, amazing performances of them, and it was just incredible.
And as a side-note; before playing Citizen Erased Dom claimed, “I think we should change the name of our website from muse.mu, to citizenerased.com”

From then on, it was just the normal, without Unintended and no UFO during Exogenesis. Which was disappointing but I kinda knew as soon as I couldn’t see it that it probably just couldn’t be supported in that venue. Fairly sure Wembley will be a different story and I’ll still get to see it next week.
Overall, fantastic gig, they seemed to enjoy it. Not quite as much as they were enjoying Sheffield last year, mind, but loving it none the less. ONLY disappointment was that, I’d already heard ALL songs they played on the gigs I’ve been to before. But despite that fact, for it to still be such an insanely good gig, I think just proves that setlists don’t make gigs. Of course without Citizen Erased and B&H I might be saying sightly different, but really, it just proved to me that no matter the songs, it can still be one of the most enjoyable nights of your life.
Excellent gig, hope a recording appears not only for mine and other attendees benefit, but for all you who couldn’t be there, too. Well worth a listen.
Bellamy & Kate Hudson
Despite being snapped in public at the start of this year at a New York eatery, Kate and Matt decided to make their first official public appearance at the Glastonbury music festival in June - at which Muse was headlining.
The 31-year-old actress watched her man perform from the side of the stage and the loved-up pair spent the rest of their time at the famous event partying with pals.
Matt, 32, also met Kate's mother, actress Goldie Hawn, earlier this month and admitted he was "quite nervous" beforehand.
And he also revealed marriage wasn't out of the question.
He said: "We just have fun together and are seeing how it goes. Kate is great.
"It's a little bit too soon to talk about weddings and stuff. Ask me in a few months though. I'll let you know how it goes with Goldie - and then who knows?"
